Man charged with murder in Syd house blaze

A man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found following a house fire in western Sydney.

A man and two boys, aged six and nine, escaped the Guilford fire early on Tuesday morning, however the body of a 30-year-old woman was found inside the home.

Superintendent Matt Appleton said on Tuesday the husband of the woman was being questioned by police in western Sydney, but declined to say whether she was killed by the fire and where in the house her body was found.

Shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning police said they had charged a 43-year-old man with murder.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in Fairfield Local Court later on Wednesday.
