Tactical police grab man after he refuses to leave shopping centre roof

A man has been charged today after police stormed a shopping centre roof to arrest him during a stand-off in Sydney's north-west.

Police were called to a Telopea shopping strip yesterday after reports the man was acting suspiciously.

Officers found him on the roof of the shopping mall, but he refused requests to climb down.

A nearby school was locked down as police tried to persuade him to leave the roof.

After four hours, police clad in tactical gear made their move, grabbing and handcuffing him before escorting him down a ladder.

He was later charged with entering a dwelling with the intent to steal and using an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in court today.
