Man charged after Blue Mountains rampage

A man has been accused of a late-night rampage through the NSW Blue Mountains in which he waved a pistol out his car window and rammed a police vehicle before being subdued with pepper spray.

It's alleged the 53-year-old crashed into a national park boom gate at Glenbrook about 11.20pm on Tuesday before hitting a parked police car outside Springwood Police Station.

He then drove up the mountain to Lawson where he was seen wielding a pistol out the window.

His vehicle stopped after a short pursuit and officers used pepper spray during the struggle to arrest the man.

He will face Penrith Local Court on Wednesday on numerous charges including possessing an unauthorised firearm and four counts of destroying or damaging property.
