Man, 47, killed in Tweed Heads crash

A 47-year-old man has been killed in a car crash at Tweed heads in northeastern NSW.

The man was driving a heavy vehicle south on the M1 about 11.30am on Thursday when it appears he suffered a medical episode, police said.

The vehicle veered to the left of the road and hit a guard rail, after which it was dragged about 100 metres.

The man was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
