2004: Karlie Jade Pearce-Stevenson leaves Alice Springs High School, aged 16.

2006: Karlie gives birth to Khandalyce Kiara Pearce in Alice Springs.

Mid 2008: Karlie leaves Alice Springs with her young daughter to travel and work around Australia.

August 2008: Two photos of Khandalyce posted on Facebook page of South Australian woman Hazel Passmore showing the girl at a car show.

November 8, 2008: Last reported sighting of Karlie, then 20, and Khandalyce, then two, on the Stuart Highway near Coober Pedy.

December 2008: Unconfirmed sighting of the pair in ACT shopping centre.

December 14-15, 2008: Police believe Karlie was killed between these dates. Khandalyce was murdered at some point afterwards but police have not identified an exact date.

September 4, 2009: Karlie's mother reports her missing but withdraws it about a month later after being assured Karlie and her granddaughter are fine.

August 29, 2010: Skeleton of a young woman, now identified as Karlie, found by trail bike riders in Belanglo State Forest, the same forest in which Ivan Milat murdered seven backpackers between 1989 and 1992. Near the body a shirt emblazoned with "Angelic" is found, prompting investigators to call her Angel.

Strike Force Hixson is established but fails to identify the woman despite forensic testing and public appeals.

2011: Karlie's family set up a Facebook page to find her, hoping she can contact her sick mother before it's too late. "We are all trying to find you," the now-deleted page said.

February 6, 2012: Karlie's mother Colleen Povey dies aged 44 believing her daughter and granddaughter are safe.

April/May 2015: Man, aged about 60, seen carrying a suitcase leaving Wynarka.

July 15, 2015: A passing motorist finds remains of a small child in a suitcase, now identified as Khandalyce, on the Karoonda Highway near the small town of Wynarka.

October 21, 2015: Police identify and link the two cases saying Karlie and her daughter's identity were revealed by a call to Crime Stoppers.

October 27, 2015: SA police say that Karlie's identity was used after her death in a series of frauds and her mobile used to mislead family about her wellbeing.

Police say that a woman in a wheelchair had impersonated Ms Pearce-Stevenson in a Centrelink interview in Adelaide in 2010.

Karlie's bank account was kept open for years after her death and almost $100,000 was spent or withdrawn from it between November 2008 and March 2012.

October 28, 2015: Daniel Holdom, 41, is charged with Karlie's murder.

October 29, 2015: Holdom, appears at Maitland Local Court where he is formally refused bail. He is due to appear before Sydney Local Court on November 12.
