Image released over Sydney pub robbery

A man who walked into a southwest Sydney pub and spoke to staff shortly before the venue was rocked by a brazen armed robbery is being tracked down by police.

Two men, one armed with a gun and the other a knife, smashed through glass doors of the Bass Hill hotel about 1.30am on December 28 last year.

Staff escaped uninjured after the pair forced themselves inside, police say.

The men stole cash from a register before fleeing the Hume Highway pub.

Officers were allegedly shot at as they arrested one of the wanted men two days later following a dramatic pursuit.

The Newtown man was charged over the armed robbery as well as the police chase.

The 27-year-old remains behind bars and is expected to face court again next month.

His alleged partner-in-crime remains on the run nearly three months later.

Investigators have now released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist, saying he was spotted entering the pub and talking to staff shortly before the robbery.
