Hawi got what he deserved: victim's mum

Former bikie boss Mahmoud "Mick" Hawi will likely be buried in Sydney next week after he was shot in a planned attack outside a gym in the city's south.

The notorious former leader of the Comancheros died in St George Hospital on Thursday evening after he was shot multiple times outside Rockdale's Fitness First around midday.

The mother of a man Hawi bashed to death in a 2009 brawl says the bikie leader "got what he deserved".

"Mick Hawi got what he deserved and good on those boys that did it," Fredericka Bromwich told the Seven Network on Friday.

"It is karma because what you do in life comes back to haunt you."

Hawi served time in prison for his role in the killing of Zervas, who was bashed with a bollard during a brawl between the rival clubs at Sydney Airport.

A manhunt continues for the men who shot Hawi in his luxury Mercedes four-wheel drive. NSW police announced the formation of Strikeforce Amirs to investigate the murder.
