Firefighters contain major Sydney factory blaze

Fire crews have contained a massive factory fire in Sydney’s north-west this morning.

Ten fire crews were called to a scrap metal yard on Tattersall Road in Kings Park about 4.15am, where they found a three-storey metal building alight.

Forty firefighters took two hours to bring the blaze under control.

It is believed the Sell and Parker building contained tools and hydraulics and fire crews have been praised for preventing the flames from reaching three large tanks loaded with diesel.

“The fire crews did an excellent job containing the fire to the building of origin…and not allowing it to spread to the scrap metal yard,” NSW Fire and Rescue Inspector Peter Jacobs said.

Firefighters suspect the fire may have started underneath a hydraulics machine.

Two workers onsite at the time of the blaze self-evacuated with no reports of injuries.
