Fierce blaze at Sydney metal yard likely to continue for hours
Fire crews have spent much of the night battling an intense blaze at a scrap metal yard near Blacktown, in Sydney's west.
Emergency services were called to the industrial site on Tattersalls Road near Sunnyholt Road in Kings Park just after 5pm.
The fire sent thick smoke over the area and residents in the area are urged to stay indoors.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said around 100 firefighters from surrounding stations were tackling the fire.
There are no reports of injuries or evacuations.
The inferno is still burning within the scrap yard and is likely to continue throughout the night and into tomorrow, but is believed to be under control and no structures have caught fire.
Tatteralls Road is closed and is expected to be closed tomorrow.
