Female teacher to face student sex charges

A 54-year-old female high school teacher who allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old student will face court on the NSW mid-north coast in the new year.

The teacher was arrested on Thursday and charged after allegedly having sex with the male student in 2013.

She's facing five counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 18 under special care, and one count of indecent assault.

The woman, who lives and works in the Coffs Harbour area, was granted conditional bail, police said.

She will front Coffs Harbour Local Court on January 6.
