Fake pistol-wielding NSW man to face court

A man accused of frightening passing motorists with a fake pistol has been charged.

Police say several distressed motorists reported seeing the 20-year-old walking along the middle of a Coffs Harbour road late on Monday afternoon, dressed in black and wearing dark sunglasses, while waving the replica gun at their cars.

The man was later arrested after officers combed the local area with the help of a police dog.

He was charged with arming himself with the intention to commit an indictable offence and four counts of assault.

He has been refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday.
