Cops investigate offensive Abbott posters

Police are on the hunt for two men after posters of Tony Abbott with offensive slogans written on his face were plastered around his Sydney electorate.

Several caricatured heads with expletives written across the former prime minister's forehead were found on walls in Manly, Mosman and Seaforth on Thursday morning.

Others were emblazoned with the word "Pell".

NSW Police said they were investigating the offensive slogans and graffiti and released CCTV footage of two men who they believe may be able to help with the investigation.

The men are described as being of Caucasian appearance and aged in their late 20s or early 30s.

One man has a moustache and was wearing a yellow beanie and work boots while the second bearded man was wearing a black cap and runners.

Mr Abbott said he had not experienced anything like it before and described it as a "new nastiness" in Australian politics.
