Charges laid after child dies in NSW crash

A woman has been charged over a crash in Newcastle which left a six-year-old boy dead.

Police allege the 29-year-old was driving on New Line Road at East Seaham when her car left the road, hit an electricity pole and rolled on July 21.

The six-year-old boy passenger died at the scene while the woman and a three-year-old girl who were also inside the car were taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver was charged on Tuesday with dangerous and negligent driving occasioning death.

She will face Raymond Terrace Local Court on August 26.
