Officers from Campsie Local Area Command and paramedics attended and found the boy unconscious, working frantically to save his life before he was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

He died a short time later.

Police believe the boy had been swimming in the pool before he got out and collapsed.

In the second incident a two-year-old boy has been left fighting for life after being pulled unconscious from a pool at a home in Camden South at about 6.30pm last night.

Paramedics treated the boy at the scene before he was airlifted to Royal Children's Hospital in Westmead in a critical condition.

Inquiries into both incidents are continuing.
