Body of six-year-old found in Murray River

The body of a six-year-old boy has been discovered in the Murray River, nearly 48 hours after he disappeared while swimming.

The boy was swimming with six others when they began to drift downstream near at campsite in Koondrook, west of Deniliquin.

Four of the children made it back to the riverbank themselves, while two others were rescued by adults.

NSW Police revealed the boy's body was found about 7.5km north of the campsite.

The boy has been formally identified and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
