Body found on NSW North Coast beach

Police are investigating after an unidentified body was discovered on a beach on the NSW North Coast.

The body was found at Safety Beach, just north of Coffs Harbour, about midday on Sunday.

It was retrieved with help from the State Emergency Service however authorities have been unable to identify the deceased.

The body has been taken for forensic examination as police attempt to determine identity and cause of death.
