Mysterious trail of human blood found in NSW Blue Mountains

A crime scene has been established in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney following the discovery of a trail of blood, but police have as yet no clues about the possible victim.

The blood trail was discovered yesterday afternoon on a service road off the Great Western Highway near Tablelands Road.

Forensic testing has determined the blood is human and DNA testing is underway in an effort to determine a potential victim.

Police are concerned someone may have been seriously injured and are appealing to the public for information, after checks with local hospitals failed to turn up any patients with links to the area.
