Dangerous surf conditions forecast as NSW braces for weekend drenching

People are being urged to stay out of the water this weekend after a hazardous surf warning was issued across NSW's coast earlier today.
Surf and swell conditions are expected to be a hazard for coastal activities, including rock fishing, boating, and swimming, the Bureau of Meteorology has warned.
A warning has been issued for the Illawarra Coast, Batemans Coast, and Eden Coast that is expected to last over the weekend.

The alert will remain in place over the weekend, with a caution for the Sydney coast also in place across tomorrow and Sunday as dangerous conditions are set to last over the next three days.
"People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas," the NSW Police Force's Marine Area Command said.
Rock fishers are also being advised to avoid coastal platforms by the ocean and to find a safe spot that is sheltered from the dangerous surf conditions.

Boaters are also urged to consider staying out of the water for the duration of the warning.
The rough conditions come after the state's dry spell, with the wet weather set to carry throughout the weekend across the state.
A trough is expected to move into the state's east, bringing an increase of showers, thunderstorms and rain heading into the weekend.
A low-pressure system developing off the south coast is also expected to bring further rain to NSW's south-east.
The wet weather is forecast to bring a cooler change into Sydney, with temperatures of approximately 20 degrees to be the average throughout the weekend.
Port Macquarie is set to reach a high of 27 degrees on Sunday, marking a significant shift following last week's heatwave, which gripped the state for multiple days.
