Bathurst teenager 'dragged woman into paddock, repeatedly assaulted her'

An 18-year-old man has been charged with numerous offences after he allegedly grabbed a woman from behind, dragged her into a vacant paddock, punched her in the face several times and then repeatedly sexually assaulted her for an hour and a half.

Police allege around 5.50pm on Saturday, a 22-year-old woman was walking along Russell Street in Bathurst when she was grabbed by the man and taken into the paddock.

Over the next 90 minutes the man, who was unknown to her, allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulted her and punched her in the face, before fleeing the scene.

The woman then ran to a nearby home where police and paramedics were called, finding her with multiple injuries, facial cuts, bruising and swelling.

She was taken to Bathurst Hospital for treatment.

Yesterday morning at 9.30am investigators from Chifley Local Area Command and NSW State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad executed a search warrant at a home in Bathurst, arresting the 18-year-old man and seizing numerous items.

He was charged with 10 offences, including kidnapping in circumstances of aggravation, six counts of aggravated sexual assault inflicting actual bodily harm and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court today.
