Alleged backpacker rapist in Sydney court
A man has appeared in court charged with raping a German backpacker at his eastern Sydney apartment.
Khalid Nour Eldeen, 45, is accused of sexually assaulting the 20-year-old woman on March 8, when she was staying in a rented room at his Randwick unit.
According to police, she was staying in the rented room with a friend, while Nour Eldeen lived in a second bedroom.
It's alleged he assaulted the young backpacker when the friend was out.
Nour Eldeen faced the Waverley Local Court on Thursday on three charges of sexual assault without consent, and one of assault with act of indecency.
Accompanied by a interpreter, he did not enter a plea.
His bail was continued and the case adjourned to the Downing Centre Local Court on May 10.
The registrar noted Nour Eldeen would need an Arabic-Egyptian interpreter on the day.
