The 10 areas where renters faced the biggest hikes this year in NSW
Homelessness NSW is calling for more social housing as data reveals where rents are rising the most across the state.
The numbers revealed that during the past year, rents had risen 9.1 per cent in Greater Sydney, and 5.2 per cent on average around the rest of NSW.
Here are the 10 places that have seen rents climb the most.
7. Sydney - North Sydney and Hornsby
Rents rose9.9 per cent to $780 a week in North Sydney and Hornsby.
More than 68,000 people seek support from specialist homelessness services each year.
7. Sydney - Parramatta
Parramatta, Sydney's second CBD, suffered a rent increase of 10 per cent to $660 a week.
3. Sydney - Eastern Suburbs
Alread one of the priciest places to rent, the Eastern Suburbs average jumped 11.9 per cent to $895 a week.
2. Sydney - Outer West, and the Blue Mountains
Rents here rose 13.7 per cent to $580 a week on average.
