Police are investigating after the death of a toddler in the NSW Riverina region.

Just before 11am yesterday, emergency services attended a home on Callaghan Street, Ashmont, after reports of a concern for welfare.

Paramedics located a 15-month-old boy and began CPR at the scene.

The boy was taken to Wagga Wagga Rural Hospital. He was later declared deceased.

Officers from the Riverina Police District will investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and a post mortem examination will be performed to determine the cause of death.
