A man who ploughed into a pack of cyclists in an SUV, leaving some with serious injuries, has been sentenced to a minimum of 18 months behind bars.

Thomas Kerr, 28, was sentenced at the Sydney District Court where Judge Brian Knox this morning told him "you will be going to jail at the end of today's proceedings".

He was sentenced to two years and three months jail with a non-parole period of 18 months.

Kerr has pleaded guilty to four counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and three of causing bodily harm by misconduct over the March 2014 crash at Eastlakes in Sydney's east, which left seven cyclist with injuries ranging from abrasions to serious spinal fractures.
