Popular craft beer sold at Dan Murphy's, BWS, Liquorland recalled for 'excess alcohol'

A popular craft beer that was sold at Dan Murphy's, BWS and Liquorland around the country has been recalled due to a phenomenon that caused it to have "excess alcohol".

Ballistic Beer Co. today issued the recall for several of their ale varieties including the Hawaiian Haze Pale Ale 375ml, Hawaiian Haze IPA 375ml and the Reef Pale Ale in 375ml.

The beers have been available for sale at Liquorland in NSW and Queensland, Vintage Cellars in every state except South Australia and Western Australia, and First Choice, Dan Murphy's and BWS nationally.

The recall was issued due to "secondary fermentation" , which could cause "excess alcohol" and carbonation that "may cause illness if consumed".

Customers who purchased the affected beers are advised not to drink the beers and will be provided with a full reimbursement.

"Consumers should not drink or open this product and should dispose of it safely," the recall states.

"Please contact Ballistic Beer Co. for safe disposal instructions and to arrange for reimbursement."
