NSW's $250 parent vouchers explained: How to spend yours before it expires

New South Wales parents have been able to access $250 worth of vouchers as a "thank you" for their home schooling efforts during COVID-19.

NSW premier Dominic Perrottet made the announcement in October last year and the government distributed them to to every household with school-aged children in February.

This weekend the parent vouchers are expiring.

Here's what you can do to spend the vouchers before they expire on Sunday October 9.

Who is eligible to receive the $250 NSW parent vouchers?

The NSW government said one person from each eligible household could apply for five $50 vouchers, worth $250 in total.

Do the vouchers have to be spent on the kids?

No. Premier Perrottet said the vouchers can be spent on activities with your children, or for parents to spend on themselves.

What can the vouchers be spent on?

The vouchers can be spent at participating businesses that offer arts, tourism and recreational activities.

This includes places such as zoos, museums, cinemas, amusement parks and theatres.

They can also be spent at Stay NSW businesses for accommodation bookings.

They are the same businesses who are eligible under the "Discover" voucher of the "Dine and Discover" scheme.
