Nine News Melbourne newsreader Peter Hitchener to celebrate his 75th birthday
Nine News Melbourne newsreader Peter Hitchener will celebrate his 75th birthday at the weekend, however it will be a "quiet" day of celebrations as Victoria remains bound by COVID-19 restrictions.
The legendary newsreader said he was looking forward to spending his birthday on Sunday with family, before stepping back in front of the camera to read the news on Monday.

"I haven't really planned anything, I tend to treat birthdays as just another day," Hitchener said.
"The more of them you have, the more you feel like that, I promise you.
"So it will just be a quiet family day, maybe friends, and then back to the Channel 9 family on Monday."
Hitchener was surprised by the Today crew this morning, who sang happy birthday to him on air.
