Driver abandons unconscious passenger after crash in Sydney’s south-west

Police are hunting a driver who left a passenger in his car trapped and unresponsive following a crash in Sydney’s south-west overnight.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of the Hume Highway and Auburn Road at Yagoona after 1am this morning following reports a vehicle had struck a parked car.

When they arrived, police and paramedics found a crumpled Mitsubishi Magna with a trapped male passenger who was unconscious in the vehicle.

The driver had fled the scene on foot.

The injured passenger was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Police from Bankstown Police Area Command are conducting inquiries to identify the male driver, who was last seen running north on Auburn Road.

Detectives are urging members of the community who may have witnessed the crash or believe they know the identity of the driver to contact Bankstown Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
