Driver hurtles down Eastlink in wrong direction
A driver has been caught travelling at speed in the wrong direction along a Melbourne Tollway.
The vehicle entered Eastlink - a tolled section of the M3 Freeway - at Cheltenham Road using the off-ramp at 1:35pm this afternoon.
The driver then hurtles about 3kms in the emergency lane into oncoming traffic before exiting at Princes Highway.

An EastLink spokesperson said that although contra-flow vehicles were rare, it was vitally important that motorists always remain alert and focused when driving.
“The unexpected can happen, and when it does, it happens very fast,” the spokesperson said.
