Newcastle breaks world record for longest line of surfboards

Newcastle has taken the Guinness World Record for the longest line of surfboards.

Earlier today 608 boards were lined up along Nobbys Beach, smashing the previous record of 398 boards out of the water.

The attempt was made to commemorate the 30th birthday of annual surfing festival Surfest.

All participants were rewarded with a Guinness World Record t-shirt, a Certificate of Participation and a $50 Jayes Travel voucher.
