New technology treating stubborn acne without pills in Australian first
A new laser treatment has become a nationwide-first to cure acne without the use of any drugs.
The Aviclear from Cutera works to induce long-term remission for moderate to severe acne without the patient requiring to take a pill.
The device is used in three 45-minute treatments over a two-month period.

Dr Ryan De Cruz told 9News the laser was the "only device of its kind".
"For the last 40 years, we - as dermatologists - have required oral treatments to manage acne," he told 9News.
"And oral medications for many reasons aren't appropriate for all patients, they do cause a number of side effects."
Dr Cruz said the device offered an impressive level of improvement, clearly visible to patients.

"They're seeing improvement even as soon as there's the second treatment so they are seeing the results for themselves they understand they are in it for the long haul," he said.
The treatment has been approved by both the Therapeutic Goods Administration and US Food and Drug Administration.
It has begun to be rolled out and is already offered at five clinics across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
