NBN cabling found strung between trees in street
NBN says it is working to fix cabling hooked up around two trees in Sydney after embarrassing footage emerged.
The ‘Humans of Bankstown’ Facebook page posted a short clip that shows cabling that was designed to be underground strung across two trees on a suburban street in Sydney’s south west.
The person filming the footage is heard saying it was the “smart” fix for when underground cable access is blocked.
The video posted on Sunday has been viewed about 480,000 times.

Under the NBN’s agreement with Telstra, the fixed line network has been taken over by the NBN in any condition, with repairs carried out when needed.
An NBN spokesman told nine.com.au the issue had been discovered when engineers rolled out the NBN in Hurstville in Sydney.
“The cabling has been in place since or before July 2015, prior to the arrival of the NBN in the area, and was acquired in that condition from the previous network provider,” the spokesman said.
“When we take on existing infrastructure, we undertake repairs if and when we need to. Technicians have attended the site to examine the construction in order to arrange rectification works.”
The NBN rollout is scheduled to be completed next year.
