Passengers save man suffering mid-air allergic reaction

An Adelaide man has survived a severe allergic reaction on a flight thanks to four complete strangers.

David Bryant was on a Virgin flight from Brisbane to Adelaide on Thursday, when he suffered an unexpected severe allergic reaction to tomatoes.

“It was really severe and I was terrified. I thought I was going to lost my husband,” his wife, Wendy Bryant, told 9NEWS.

She used two Epipens to try and relieve her husband, but said “nothing happened”.

Still an hour away from Adelaide, flight crew called for medical professionals on board to come forward.

Three nurses and another passenger sprang to action, using an intravenous device and laying Mr Bryant on the floor to allow air into his lungs.

He was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital after the aircraft made an emergency landing.

The Bryant family are now working to find the four saviours to “show their gratitude”.

“I owe them a hell of a lot. Thank you just wouldn’t cut it,” Mr Bryant said.

“Without their intervention, I might have died”.

Mrs Bryant said the incident has restored her “faith in humanity”.

“I’d just love to thank them from the bottom of my heart,” she said.
