Body of missing Murray River swimmer found

The body of a swimmer missing in the NSW Murray River has been located.

The 18-year-old was swimming with friends in the river at Noreuil Park, Albury when the group got into difficulty just after 2pm on Christmas Day.

The group were helped out the water, but the young man was unaccounted for and emergency crews were called.

A search has been ongoing for the past week and this morning, just after 8am, the 18-year-old's body was recovered a short distance from the Kremur Street boat ramp.

The body was taken to Albury Base Hospital and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
