Two men dead after five cars and truck collided in Sydney’s inner west

Police are investigating whether speed and alcohol played a part in a horrific eight-vehicle crash in Sydney’s inner west that left two men dead and another four, including two children, injured.

high-powered Mercedes Benz was left barely recognizable after crossing the median strip and clipping another car before flipping over on Concord Road near the intersection of Mary Street in Rhodes.

The driver was killed, as was another man in a Ford Falcon.

Two four-year-old girls in separate cars were taken to hospital with minor injuries, while the 38-year-old father of one of the children had to be cut free from wreckage.

Witnesses have described the crash as horrific.

“It was really a shock, it happened so quickly,” Jonathan Wijayakumar, who was in a car with his uncle and cousin, said.

“People would say it’s like something you’d see in the movies – worse than that, I think.”

After long delays, the road finally reopened at 4pm.

Police are now investigating the cause of the crash.
