Morrison gets Pauline Hanson's PM approval

Perhaps it is his ability to stop the boats that has Scott Morrison floating Pauline Hanson's boat.

Whatever it is, the senior Liberal found himself the object of the One Nation founder's political affections after receiving her tick of approval as a potential prime minister.

Ms Hanson was asked on the Seven Network on Tuesday for her opinion on the latest polling results showing Tony Abbott's unpopularity with voters.

After dismissing Mr Abbott (he "doesn't come across well") and Malcolm Turnbull ("I have no trust or time for him"), she went for the social services minister.

"Scott Morrison is my pick," Ms Hanson told the Sunrise program.

But it forced a quizzical response from Sunrise host David Koch.

"I am not sure if Scott Morrison would be happy with your endorsement," he said.

"That could be the kiss of death for him."

Mr Morrison, one of cabinet's stand-out performers, has consistently brushed aside rumours of his leadership ambitions.

When asked last week if he would like to be Liberal leader one day, Mr Morrison said he was only focused on his job at hand - that of social services minister.

But tellingly, he cited advice from former prime minister John Howard, who rose to power the same year as Ms Hanson was elected to federal parliament.

Do the job you are in and do it well, and let the future take care of itself, he said.
