Treasurer Scott Morrison is reportedly considering a further tweak of the planned changes to superannuation tax concessions as the government seeks to appease some of its backbenchers.

Plans to limit lifetime non-concessional superannuation contributions to $500,000 could be lifted to $750,000 or the cap made prospective instead of applying from 2007, the Australian Financial Review said on Friday.

Cabinet minister Josh Frydenberg wouldn't confirm the report, but told ABC radio: "Scott Morrison is consulting with colleagues and with industry on the implementation".

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull wouldn't respond directly to the report, telling Neil Mitchell on 3AW radio Mr Morrison was consulting colleagues.
