Can you spot the typo in Melbourne highway sign?

Melbourne road and traffic officials have been left red faced by a typo on a highway sign.

Motorists and local residents bombarded VicRoads with social media messages about a newly-erected sign on the Monash Freeway for the Springvale Road exit to ‘Glen Waverly’.

The suburb became wrongly named when the signwriter left out an ‘e’.

And Glen Waverley residents are not happy about it.

‘What a disgrace!” one man commented on the Glen Waverley Community Facebook page.

There is in fact a “Glen Waverly” but it’s a rural holding, 1400km from Melbourne’s south east in the NSW Northern Tablelands.

The error was also picked up by local state MP Michael Gidley.

He tweeted his concern drivers were slowing down and taking their view off the road when they noticed the typo.

VicRoads said the sign would be fixed by the end of next week.
