Missing six-foot python found just metres away from where it vanished

Residents in Melbourne's southeast can take comfort that a six-foot-long pet snake has been found four days after going missing.

Izzy Elhan found his 180cm python mere metres away from where it went missing.

Elhan let Charlie the python out of his enclosure and into the garden in Hughesdale early on Sunday afternoon to enjoy some sunshine.

But when Elhan's back was turned, Charlie escaped.

Or so he thought.

Elhan said today Charlie was found just metres away from where it was last seen.

He apologised for all the commotion caused to his neighbours.

It wasn't the first time Charlie went missing.

The python also went missing last winter, and was gone for three weeks before returning home.

While pythons aren't venomous, a six-foot serpent is very capable of squeezing a dog or cat to death.
