More milk recalled amid bacteria fears

Cartons of milk sold in Victoria and parts of NSW are being pulled from shelves amid fears they could be contaminated with bacteria, reported to be E.Coli.

Dairy company Lactalis Australia Pty Ltd has issued a recall over one and two litre bottles of milk sold at Coles Express, Woolworths, IGA and other retailers as well as food outlets in Victoria and parts of Southern NSW including the Murray, Riverina and Western Districts of NSW.

They should not be consumed and should be returned for a refund.

Only bottles with a use by date of July 2, 2019 are affected, from the following brands:

•                    7-Eleven Lite Milk 2L Bottle

•                    Gippy Full Cream Milk 2L Bottle  

•                    Gippy Lite Milk 2L Bottle

•                    Maxi Foods Lite Milk 2L Bottle

•                    Pauls Professional Cafe Crema Milk 2L Bottle

•                    Pauls Smarter White 2% Fat Milk 2L Bottle  

•                    Rev Low Fat Milk 2L Bottle

•                    Rev Low Fat Milk 1L Carton  

Lactalis said: “Lactalis Australia has identified the source of the contamination and taken the necessary steps to address it and prevent any recurrence of this problem in the future. As soon as the issue was identified, the authorities and retailers were notified, and a recall initiated.”

The milk recall is the second in less than a week.

Last Friday eight varieties of milk sold in Victoria and southern NSW were recalled amid fears they may contain cleaning solution.

Lactalis Australia also recalled the one-litre Coles, Pauls, REV and PhysiCAL branded milk yesterday, saying they may contain "an amount of food grade dairy cleaning solution".
