Meth worth $8 million uncovered in blueberry power packaging at Melbourne Airport
A 26-year old man from Hungary has been jailed for trying to smuggle 9kg of methamphetamine worth more than $8 million into Australia hidden inside blueberry powder packaging.
The man flew into Melbourne Airport from Los Angeles on December 17, 2024.
Australian Border Force (ABF) officers found the drug hidden inside packets of blueberry powder in his case.

The man told police he was paid about $14,200 to carry 'watches' into Australia and was to meet a person at a nearby hotel to hand them over.
AFP Detective Inspector Jarrod Ragg said the seized drugs could have potentially been sold as 90,000 street deals worth an estimated $8.3 million.
The man pleaded guilty on 29 October, 2025, to one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug, namely methamphetamine.
"The AFP and ABF are relentless in our commitment to prevent harmful drugs from entering our community and causing harm," Detective Inspector Ragg said.

"Anyone who offers you cash to carry something for them is not to be trusted and claiming you did not know the items were illicit drugs is not a valid excuse."
The man was sentenced to seven years and six months' in prison with a non-parole period of four years at the County Court of Victoria last week.
