Four teens 'intercepted' in dramatic motorway arrest

Four teens who allegedly robbed two supermarkets before stealing a car and leading police on a chase have been arrested in Melbourne.

Authorities said four boys allegedly robbed two supermarkets of cigarettes overnight in Melbourne's south.

It's then alleged the boys fled the supermarkets and stole a vehicle on Cranbourne Road at about 12.20am.

Police said they tried to pull over the silver Holden but it failed to stop.

Authorities began to follow the allegedly stolen car but said no pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, two of the boys got out of the car on Coral Drive in Hampton Park and were chased by police on foot before being arrested.

The stolen vehicle fled but was followed by police until it was intercepted on the Dandenong Bypass near Chapel Road in Keysborough.

The two other men were arrested just before 1am.

A 15-year-old Noble Park boy, 19-year-old from Clayton South, 17-year-old from Seaford and a 16-year-old from Keysborough are all currently assisting police with their enquiries.

No charges have been laid.
