Trapped peacock rescued from tree at Melbourne home

Firefighters have used a hose to help a trapped pet peacock down from a tree at a Melbourne home.

The peacock found itself in trouble outside on Irving Avenue in Windsor on Monday.

The owner of the bird was trying to move it from one car to another when it escaped his clutches, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) told 9News.

Crews from the MFB were called to the scene yesterday about 5pm, and used a fire-fighting hose to coax the elegant bird down from its perch.

“Fireys flocked to assist a Prahran resident’s pet peacock trapped in a tree. Paying meticulous attent to de*tail* they got it down,” the MFB wrote in a pun-filled tweet.
