Increased security measures announced ahead of Jerry Seinfeld's Melbourne comedy shows

Security measures are ramping up ahead of Jerry Seinfeld's comedy shows in Melbourne this weekend.

It comes days after he was confronted by pro-Palestinian protesters at his gig at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

The 70-year-old comedian, best known for his sitcom Seinfeld, was heckled by a man who chanted, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free".

Seinfeld shot back at the heckler, saying, "We have a genius, ladies and gentlemen. He solved the Middle East. He solved it."

The man was removed from the venue by security.

A Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP) spokesperson said they were committed to "ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment" for all guests attending events at the precinct.

"M&OP does not tolerate disruptive behaviour which creates an unsafe environment," the spokesperson said.

"Any guests exhibiting behaviour which does not comply with the venue's or precinct's conditions of entry will be removed from the event."

Seinfeld travelled to Israel after the October 7 attacks and met families of some of the hostages abducted by Hamas.

In May, a speech he made in support of Israel triggered walkouts at an American University.

The comedian will perform two shows at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on June 22, and June 23.
