Driver killed after stolen truck allegedly runs red light in Melbourne
A man is in hospital under police guard after he allegedly crashed a stolen truck into a car in Melbourne early this morning, killing the other driver.
The crash occurred in Footscray about 4.30am when a white Nissan truck collided with a grey Toyota Corolla after the allegedly stolen vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Ballarat Road and Moore Street.
The Toyota was forced on to the footpath and the driver, a man who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.

Police said the truck first came to police attention around 3am following reports it was seen in Beveridge around 2.30am.
Air Wing was called in after the truck was spotted in Truganina and police attempted to intercept it at Peterpaul Way and Schembri Drive.
When the driver sped off, police deployed stop sticks, however, they were unsuccessful on multiple occasions.

A 40-year-old man, from Deer Park, was arrested at the scene. Nine
Police said during its response the driver of the truck was "involved in a non-injury collision with another vehicle, continued to drive at speed, and at times on the wrong side of the road, and through several red lights".
A 40-year-old man from Deer Park was arrested at the scene of the fatal crash.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and remains under police guard.
"From our enquiries at this stage, it appears the truck was initially stolen on January 3 from the Kalkallo area before it was found in Derrimut and the owner contacted on January 5," police said.
"The truck it appears was then re-stolen from Derrimut."
Major roadblocks are in place along Ballarat Road with motorists advised to expect delays.
