McDonald's gets an upgrade with old-fashined menus
Fast-food giant McDonald's will undergo a massive upgrade with technology and a la carte menus being rolled out in restaurants throughout Australia.
iPads and table service will soon be available with a new made-to-order menu including several new items available for burgers such as brioche buns or no bun at all.
The Big Mac, the Quarter Pounder and the drive-thru will still be available for traditionalist, but the Golden Arches is making changes for customers who might have more discerning tastes.
McDonald's Australia CEO Andrew Gregory told A Current Affair the changes were about modernising customer experiences.
"I think what we're doing is really giving our customers what they want," the Big Mac of Maccas said.
"You'll still be able to come through and get a great Big Mac in a really fast drive thru. However, if you want to come into our restaurant you'll have a choice."
The changes follow McDonald's introduction of a delivery service in Sydney last year which will soon be available nationwide as well as in-app ordering.
The "McDelivery" service has been operating in the US for more than two decades.
Like obesity, heart disease and diabetes, it is now present in several other countries including China, India and the Philippines.
The new McDonald's diner experience is currently being trialled at Castle Hill in Sydney's west and will roll out across Australian over the next year.
