A US “boy beauty blogger” has been named as the first ever male ambassador for Maybelline cosmetics, and will specifically model their mascara.
Manny Gutierrez made the “exciting announcement” to his three million Instagram followers yesterday.
“Honestly I couldn’t be more honoured (and) thrilled. Thank-you to Maybelline for taking a chance on me,” he wrote.
He will front campaigns for the brand’s new “Big Shot” mascara, alongside beauty bloggers Shayla Mitchell.
Gutierrez is well-known on social media for his make-up tutorials and candid video diaries. His YouTube channel, Manny Muam, has more than two million subscribers.
“I believe makeup is GenderLESS and has no rules!” Gutierrez has written in the about section of his channel.
His appointment follows rival cosmetic brand CoverGirl’s use of Instagram star James Charles as a brand spokesperson in October last year.
