A man is spending Christmas in hospital, after he was repeatedly stabbed in the neck in Adelaide’s north-east.

Neighbours in Vale Park said they woke up to screaming and police swarming Stewart Avenue just after 8am.

“I did wake up to loud screams being heard, it was kind of unpleasant way to wake up to on Christmas,” Emma Drake told 9NEWS.

A 28-year-old man was stabbed a number of times, allegedly by a 42-year-old man living at the house.

The victims staggered outside after he was attacked, smashing a neighbour’s window in his frantic efforts to seek help.

“There was just a lot of movement of people,” Ms Drake said.

The accused was pulled over by police a short time later and was charged with aggravated assault.

The incident has shocked locals.

“Of course it’s a concern, my kids always play over here in this area. That’s very scary for us,” Jagat Dhadook said.

It’s the second serious incident at the house in the past seven months.

Another man was also allegedly stabbed by a 20-year-old woman after a fight broke out between housemates.
