Police are looking for a man they want to speak to in relation to a stabbing at Werrington last night. (NSW Police) 

A man is on the run after allegedly stabbing a man in the neck in western Sydney.

The man approached a 25-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl at the Werrington Railway Station at around 10.10pm.

He allegedly threatened the pair with a knife before stabbing the man in the face and neck and fleeing the scene.

The injured man was taken to Blacktown Hospital where he is in a stable condition being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police have now released CCTV footage from the St Marys Local Area of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the stabbing.

The man is depicted as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance and aged between 17 and 25.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
