Man remanded over Vic stabbing murder

A man has been remanded in custody over the alleged stabbing murder of a young man in northern Victoria.

Hayden Atkinson-Thring, 20, died after he was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight outside a service station in Cobram on January 2.

Raad Kamil Ajil was charged with murder on Saturday after handing himself in to police at Broadmeadows on Friday.

Ajil, 27, made no application for bail during a brief hearing at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The case was adjourned for a committal mention on April 28.
