Man injured after home gutted by fire in Melbourne

A man has been injured after a powerful fire tore through a home in Melbourne’s north-west this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the residence on Protea Court in Sunbury about 2.40pm to find the home fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters conducted an extensive search to look for the home owner, who was found away from the property.

He sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The garage has been completely destroyed and other areas of the home significantly damaged, according to a spokesperson from the CFA.

Police and fire investigators are working determine the cause of the blaze.
